GamesCon 2015: Star Wars Battlefront - Fighter Squadron Reveal

As stated earlier, fans of the Star Wars Battlefront series felt that the absence of air battles with X wings and Tie Fighters would be a serious downer but the developers down at Dice and EA never cease to disappoint the long time fans with their reveal of their new game mode "Fighter Squadron" in Star Wars Battlefront with their gameplay reveal of the aerial dogfight mode at GamesCon.

The aerial game mode shown follows an objective based skirmish where the Imperial Legiance escorting a shuttle to a star destroyer which they have to defend from the rebel air forces intercepting and destroying the transport. This aerial dogfight features an intense multiplayer mode between the Imperial Legiance using their Tie Fighters & Tie Interceptors and the Rebel Alliance fighting back with X Wings & A Wings, when called for back up. Each of the vehicles have their specialties and are completely authentic from their design up to the sound of each vehicle. The A-Wing is called in for back up for their use of locking on to enemies and launching rockets to locked on vehicles. Gameplay can be seamlessly switched between third person fighting to cockpit view in each vehicle. Fighter Squadron allows 20 players online with an additional 20 AI controlled fighters in order to add much more authenticity to the aerial dog fights.

Gold Leader, Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon, enters the battle providing assistance to the Rebels in eliminating enemies with it's speed and fire power ultimately eliminating the Imperial transport. Just like ground battles that feature Hero characters that are playable, Fighter Squadron allows the same by allowing players to maneuver iconic vehicles such as the Millennium Falcon, piloted by the rebellious Han Solo in the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as Boba Fett's Slave I. Both of these iconic vehicles fighting in the same battlefield during the same battle is sure to add beef between the two teams during the online match. All of this adding onto Star Wars dreams waiting to be created and played when the game is launched. Fighter Squadron is available to play on the GamesCon showfloor during the show if attending the show! Star Wars Battlefront will be hitting lightspeed onto shelves on November 17, 2015.
