EagleCon, CSULA's convention, returns this week!

Eagle Con, a convention set up by the students and organizations of California State University, Los Angeles, returns for another fun filled event on the CSULA campus. The event follows certain educational themes and this theme follows “Engineering Science Fiction – Exploring the connection between science fiction literature, art and technology.”; this theme includes the art of space travel and slash fiction. The 2-day event brings forth indie comics, superheroes, critical thinking, and an insider’s look of the creative-professional industry. Eagle Con will cover issues of race, gender, orientation, identity, and depiction in comic books while also "celebrating the limitless imagination of artists and writers that turns 'ordinary humans' into life-long devotees of the superhero/ine."

This year Eagle Con has partnered with the Costume Designers Guild; and special Guest of Honor Kevin Grevioux, an American actor, screenwriter, and comic book writer. He is known for his role as Raze in the Underworld film series, which he also co-created. The event will also be hosting their first videogame tournament of Injustice: Gods Among Us and it's first masquerade, where cosplayers can compete and show off their costumes. Along with the every convention is an exhibit hall, where attendees can purchase comic goods and check out the gallery, which includes student submitted art and work. Finally, there will be a diverse amount of panels which include many special guests in various industries relating to the comics/film. The schedule can be found on their website.
